Saguaro Lake

A great place for kayaking during the summer

Cave Creek Cave Dwellings

Great place for a daytrip and some exploring these old dwellings

Bartlett Lake

Enjoying an evening paddle out on the water

badger springs

Badger Springs is a little gem hidden off of the side of the I-17 just north of Sunset Point. Its about 1.5 miles out and back and the destination spot is where the Agua Fria River meets with Badger Springs. This spot is popular for anyone just trying to stretch their legs on the car ride or take a short stop. I always prefer to stop here as opposed to Sunset Point. This isn't a rest stop though, it's a National Monument so pack it in and pack it out!

Petroglyphs along the trail

Cornville waterfalls

The Cornville waterfalls are a little known or at least not very trafficked spot. These waterfalls are not natural but are just some runoff water from the local wineries in Cornville. They pump the water from the Verde River onto their farms and water their crops and then it flows back into the Verde creating three gorgeous waterfalls. Along with the waterfalls, there are several spots where it opens up deep enough to swim and a couple rope swings could can be found there as well.

the crack

Located in Rimmrock Arizona, this roughly 7 mile out and back tail is a beautiful place to get away from the city and into nature. Once you get back to "The Crack" there is a nice swimming hole and some cliffs to jump off. Wet Beaver Creek runs directly through to cliffsides creating "the crack". It is a highly trafficked trail, especially during the warmer months. If you pack it in, pack it out!

Some strange sand formations along the trail

Signs keeping us informed

Needle Rock

About nine miles south of Bartlett lake along the Verde River there is a popular recreation spot called Needle Rock. Mostly people are wading around the shallows and fishing. However, there are some rather tall cliffs to jump off for the daring. Sometimes kayakers come down the river from behind Bartlett, using this spot as an end to there journey down river.

water wheel falls

This little trail outside of Payson is definitely a good day trip spot. The hike back to the falls is short (about a mile) and there are plenty of smaller waterfalls on the way to stop and check out.
